This hole features a tremendous amount of sand

in front of the green as well as some deep, gnarly pot bunkers. As you pull into Deltona Hills, you find a large parking lot that leads to a trailer. To me, it is a course more reminiscent of Whistling Straits than something you would normally find in Florida. AmongTN, TN Pas Cher, others, number 11 went from being a 190-yard par 3 to a 245-yard par 3. A modest layup shot will leave slightly more than a 100 yard approach shot. Some are open in front but for the most part you will be approaching via theChaussures New Balance Femme air route. Par here is good.Number 17: Par 4, 444 yards. Unlike typically flat Florida courses, the rolling hills, native trees, elevation changes, lush fairways, and greens of Deltona Hills Golf Club will challenge your shot making ability. Keep your drive left off the tee, but not too far as trees will come into play. Twilight rates kick in at 2 pm and are $30.00. Fairway bunkers on both the left and right come into play off the tee; anything way left may find a nasty little pot bunker. Your approach shot will be very much uphill (another term not used much in Florida golf) to a large, undulating green that slopes back to front. A long dogleg right that features water straight away and waste bunkers all down the right side. The Deltona Club throws a curve ball at you as well; after leaving the second green, you don't find any consecutive pars again until you hit number 17.The greens are medium to large and Weed added some nice undulations; they play neither too fast nor too slow. Short straight hole features waste bunkers (and a few houses) all down the right side. Although the original layout has pretty much stayed the same, Weed did change several holes. You sense right away that things are different, very different than what used to be. Anything right will find another one of the many waste bunkers that loom throughout the course. Over the last several years it has really been showing its age. It is a true risk/reward hole and is definitely short enough to drive. Having not played the course, I know the best is yet to come. The Deltona Golf and Country Club was originally built in 1964. This very long par 3 plays well over 200 yards and even longer into any prevailing wind you may encounter. If you enjoy playing a Florida golf course with rolling fairways and unusual changes in elevations, then the Deltona Club is a must play.Memorable Holes:Number 2: Par 4, 404 yards. It's a great golf venue for the experienced as well as the inexperienced player. Deep potNike Tn Requin classic Femme bunkers right and more sand left await errant tee shots. The green gets very narrow as you approach the hole; pine trees near the front left of the green will catch a few errant tee shots. This par 5 plays uphill most of the way and has a lot of mounding in the fairway that can produce something foreign to golfers in Florida - the dreaded uneven lie. The green is fairly small with a pot bunker in the front left.Deltona Hills is a true shot-makers golf course. Long ball hitters can get home in two with a decent drive off the tee and an extra club or two on approach.Number 8: Par 4, 292 yards. Two small putting surfaces currently make up the practice green; one near the temporary clubhouse and one near the first tee. There is no water on the course so chances are pretty good that you will finish the round with the same ball you started with.Deltona Hills is still a work in process; they are currently working out of a temporary clubhouse and are still lacking many of the amenities found at most new courses. Aiming at the 150 yard marker will prove to be the best line; the dogleg is more like a right turn. The green is large and features several crowns and mounds making all putts very challenging.Number 11: Par 3, 223 yards. Short tricky par 4, keep tee shots left of big tree that hovers between the tee and green. An imaginative short game will go a long way to shooting a low score. Before this storm, there were no homes visible from the golf course. The Deltona Club as it is called now, re-opened in January of 2008 after a complete renovation, led by renowned golf architect Bobby Weed. This hole features a very large green with a lot of undulation. Also of note, 17 acres near the clubhouse have been set aside for up to 300 condominiums.Summer rates at Deltona are quite reasonable; you can play any day of the week for no more than $40.00 (summer 2009 rates). Not only did he re-grass the tee boxes, fairways, and all 18 greens, he also lengthened the course, which now plays over 7,000 yards from the "permission only" back tees. He planted more than 250 trees, installed a new irrigation system, and put in some vey unique waste areas. In August of 2004, Hurricane Charley swept through the course, knocking down more than 500 trees in the process. It achieved the "looks hard, plays easy" characteristics the designers were looking for. A good drive will leave about a 140 yard approach shot to a large, elevated green protected by bunkers on the right.Number 7: Par 5, 466 yards. Annual memberships are currently being offered for $4,000/yr for a family membership an $3,000 for a single. For more information, you can visit Myrtlebeach golf vacations website or Hiltonheadgolf vacations..
